Welcome
Thanks for visiting my on-line portfolio (resume, CV, etc.).
For the last 25 years or so, I have been very fortunate to work for the same group of people in various entrepreneurial roles, however as their impending retirement approaches, I find myself ready to move on to new opportunities and challenges.
My employment history so far is best described as having worked for affiliated small businesses in a self-funded incubator environment. As such, I have had a fantastic opportunity to be exposed to numerous technologies and business practices that have included life saving medical device development, electromagnetic waves, structural stability, targeted political marketing, sensor data acquisition and analysis, and fire fighting equipment. I even had the opportunity to stand on the gantry of the Space Shuttle as it sat on the launchpad, less than 24 hours before launch to verify that a system I designed and managed was operating properly.
It is my hope that my career moving forward can be just as exciting, technically interesting, and something where I know that when my time comes, that I have left this planet a better place than I found it.
In working for small businesses, I have found myself having a role of “jack of all trades”, as there was often not enough resources to hire for each and every need, it became necessary for me to acquire the necessary skills. As such, I have:
- wired offices with category 5 cable,
- built up PCs from OEM parts,
- designed electrical circuits,
- programmed a variety of computers and embedded controllers in a variety of programming languages,
- taken the lead role in writing and submitting multi-million dollar proposals, and managing funded efforts,
- designed and maintain web pages,
- rendered photo-realistic designs (before solidworks made it easy),
- designed data architectures for the storage of mysql databases,
- Setup multi-office IP-based phone network, video-conferencing, and VPN links,
- installed and maintained linux (RedHat, SuSE, CentOS, Ubuntu) servers including: samba, apache, tomcat, subversion, mysql, asterisk, WordPress, webmin and custom applications,
- designed a field-able system to do rapid PCR replication to identify potential pathogens,
- managed project budgets and company finances,
- taken a lead role in drafting patent applications including an analysis of patentability, formulation of claims, the right to practice and the review of violations of patent claims,
- reviewed and edited legal documents such as non-disclosure agreements, incorporation documents and contracts,
- written peer-reviewed scientific journal articles,
- contributed a chapter to a medical textbook,
- create and edit Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ISO/IEC (60601 and others) and FDA standards and participated in audits of the QMS,
- Designed and conducted scientific experiments, including animal and human clinical research to OHRP and DoD standards,
- trained co-workers, customers, collaborating scientists, and even astronauts,
- and many more tasks not listed.
As a result of this variety in my experience, it is difficult to find the right match for future employers. My skills may not cover exactly what you may be looking for; but I have the capacity to quickly learn, and the breadth of my experience often allows me to bring in solutions from other disciplines that others may not have considered.
So I have created this website as a means to help you understand how I may be able to assist for organization to achieve their goals, maybe in ways you may never have envisioned.
Thank you,
