Grant History

While working for AutoMedx, one of my primary responsibilities was to coordinate the technical content, budget, and submission process for many government grants.

When I was not the principal investigator of the proposed effort; I would inquire with the individual who was to understand the intent of their effort and the needs to accomplish it.  I would then take the lead role in developing the proposal, having the principal investigator review and correct the content as needed.  In my experience, this was a very efficient way to minimize the distractions of the principal investigator from their current tasks, while still getting putting together a high quality proposal.

We would also often use collaborators from another institution as a part of our effort, and a similar process would be employed to good effect.

Our success rate was that 8 of 16 proposals were funded for $6.2M of the requested $16.2M.  This is a relatively high success rate for combinations of SBIR, BAA, and CDMRP funding requests.

My work with Spectral Energetics had a similar success rate of TBD of TBD proposals for TBD of TBD requested funds.

I have been deeply involved additional proposals, some of which I am not at liberty to elaborate upon.  All in all, I have been a part of proposals that were successfully to the tune of over $41.1M of public funding.

When preparing Annual and Final reports for our efforts, I would employ a similar tactic of using progress reports and other data to prepare the majority of the report, then work with the PI and other team members to make corrections as needed.  An extremely efficient and effective use of the team resources.
